Ingredients for Prawn Biryani Recipe

  • 250 gram Medium size Prawns
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric
  • As required Ingredients for biryani
  • 250 gram Marinated prawns
  • 1.50 tablespoon Ghee
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1.50 stick Cinnamon inch
  • 1 No.s Bay leaf
  • 12 No.s Peppercorns
  • 6 No.s Green cardamoms
  • 1 No.s Black cardamom
  • 1 No.s Mace
  • 4 No.s Cloves
  • 1 No.s Star anise
  • 2 No.s Medium onions sliced
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger garlic paste
  • 1 No.s Tomato chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Red chilli powder
  • 2 tablespoon Coriander powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 4 tablespoon Curd
  • 1 tablespoon Biryani masala
  • 3 No.s Green chillies slit
  • As required Salt
  • 2 tablespoon Coriander and mint leaves chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger julienned
  • 2 tablespoon Crispy Fried Onions
  • 3 cup Cooked Rice
  • 1/4 cup Saffron milk

Directions: Prawn Biryani Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.In a mixing bowl add 250 gms cleaned prawns, add ½ tsp turmeric powder, 1 tbsp lemon juice and keep aside to marinate.

  • STEP 1.Heat a pan and add 1 ½ tbsp ghee, 1 tsp cumin seeds, 1 ½ inch cinnamon stick, 1 bay leaf, 10 to 12 peppercorns, 5 to6 green cardamoms, 1 black cardamom, 1 mace, 3 to 4 cloves, 1 star anise, 2 medium onions sliced. Saute till onions are translucent. Add 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste and mix well. Add a few tbsp water.

  • STEP 1.Then add 1 large chopped tomato and cook till it softens. Add 1 tbsp red chilli powder, 2 tbsp coriander ( dhaniya) powder, ¼ tsp turmeric (haldi) powder and mix well. Add a little water and stir well to mix all the ingredients together.

  • STEP 1.Add 3 to 4 tbsp curd (dahi/ yogurt) and mix well.

  • STEP 1.Add the marinated prawns and stir to ensure that prawns are well coated with the masala. Cook for 1 minute.

  • STEP 1.Then add 1 tbsp biryani masala, 2 to 3 slit green chillies and cook for 2 minutes.

  • STEP 1.Add salt to taste, 1 tbsp chopped coriander and mint leaves. Mix together.

step 8

  • STEP 1.Add 1 tbsp crispy fried onions and mix.

  • STEP 1.At this stage add 3 cups of cooked rice over the prawns masala. Spread it out as an even layer. Do not mix it with the prawns.

step 10

  • STEP 1.Pour ¼ cup of saffron milk over the rice. Sprinkle 1 tsp julienned ginger 1 tbsp spoon chopped coriander leaves and 1 tbsp crispy fried onions.

step 11

  • STEP 1.Cover the vessel and cook on low heat for 10 to 15 minutes. Turn off the heat.

step 12

  • STEP 1.Prawn biryani is ready.
