Prawn Balchao Recipe

Recipe By Better Butter

This is basically a goan pickle made of dried shrimps but many restaurants serve it as a curry by adding fresh shrimps instead. The base is the peri-peri masala. My friend cyrus todiwala, ex-executive chef of the taj aguada, gave me this recipe.

  • As required Peri Peri Masala
  • As required Vinegar
  • 25 gram Ginger
  • 25 gram Garlic
  • 2.50 gram coriander seeds cumin and cardamon
  • 2.50 gram cinnamon cloves and mace
  • 100 gram red chilies
  • As required For the Balchao
  • 250 gram prawns shelled and deveined
  • 50 gram Peri peri masala for 200 gms of prawns
  • 200 gram Onions
  • 250 gram Tomatoes
  • 1/2 doz curry leaves
  • 1/2 tablespoon shrimp powder
  • As required oil to fry
