Ingredients for Potli Samosa Recipe

  • As required Dough
  • 4 cup All purpose flour
  • 8.50 tablespoon Oil
  • As required Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seed
  • 1 teaspoon Ajwain
  • As required Water to knead the dough
  • As required Oil to fry the potli samosa
  • As required Samosa filling
  • 1/4 cup frozen green peas
  • 6 medium potatoes
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala powder garam masala powder
  • 1 teaspoon chili flakes chili flakes
  • 1 teaspoon amchur powder
  • 1 medium onion finely chopped
  • 2 teaspoon ginger grated
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon fennel seeds
  • 1-2 green chilies chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Kasuri methi

  • STEP 1.First of all to prepare the dough take flour, salt , cumin seeds and ajwain in a bowl.

  • STEP 1.Then add 7 tablespoons of oil and start mixing the dough with the help of fingers. Mix the flour mixture until crumbly.

  • STEP 2.Then add hot water and keep kneading until it’s a tight dough.

  • STEP 1.Rub oil in your palm and knead the dough again and then, cover the dough with a damp cloth and keep it aside for 45 minutes.

  • STEP 1.To prepare the samosa filling start with heating the oil in a pan. While the oil heats, add cumin seeds, fennel seeds and allow it to crackle.

  • STEP 3.Now, add ginger, chopped green chilies and fry for another few seconds. Then, add onions and cook until translucent.

  • STEP 4.Once the onion is soft and pink adds the frozen peas. Saute everything well for 2-3mins.

  • STEP 5.Then add the spices- red chili flakes, dry mango powder, garam masala, salt, mix well—cook for another minute in low flame.

  • STEP 1.Finally, add the roughly chopped potatoes and mix well with the masala, add kasuri methi and mix well. turn off the gas and let it cool.

  • STEP 6.Divide the dough into small balls. Now take a shot, roll it out into a thin disc of about 4-5 inches.

  • STEP 7.Take a spoonful of the stuffing portion, and place it in the center.

  • STEP 1.Now brush the edge of the disc with water and bring the edges together to form a potli (like a money bag).

  • STEP 8.Heat enough oil in a deep pan or kadai. oil should be just warm.

  • STEP 9.Gently, slide in the potlis and fry them until brown and crisp. Be careful while cooking them.

  • STEP 1.Take it out in a kitchen towel or napkin to soak the extra oil and your crispy samosa potli is ready

  • STEP 10.Enjoy it with your family. Serve it with tomato ketchup and green chutney.
