Whenever we cook pork at home, the neck bones of this meat are often discarded. Well from now on there is no need to throw it. Pork neck bone can be used to make a rich homemade spaghetti sauce that will enhance the taste of your meals. It is a slow-cooked tomato-based sauce that you can pair with spaghetti, pasta, and lasagna.

  • 0.43 Pork neck bones
  • 4.57 ounce Tomato sauce
  • 2.29 ounce Tomatoes
  • 0.14 Yellow onion
  • 0.14 Green pepper
  • 1.14 ounce Mushrooms
  • 0.29 tablespoon Tomato paste
  • 0.29 tablespoon Garlic
  • 0.21 tablespoon Oregano
  • 0.21 tablespoon Parsley
  • 0.21 tablespoon Basil
  • 0.14 teaspoon Crushed red pepper

Directions: Pork Neck Bone Spaghetti Sauce Recipe

Cooking Directions

  • In a sauté pan, over medium-high heat, add oil, garlic, yellow onion & green pepper. Cook until the vegetables are a little soft.
  • Add the mushrooms, pork neck bones, tomato paste, and continue to cook, flipping the pork neck bones so they brown on all sides.
  • Once the pork neck bones are browned on all sides, pour all the pan into a slow cooker. Pour tomato sauce, diced tomatoes and seasonings into slow cooker, and mix together. Let the slow cooker cook on low for 6-8 hours.

Cooking Tips

  • You can add pork or beef Meatballs to the slow cooker to make the sauce more delicious.
  • Use high quality canned crushed tomatoes to better results.
  • Do not rush the process, let the gravy simmer on the stove for several hours.

Serving and Storage

  • Pour over your favorite pasta and spaghetti and enjoy.
  • You can add this sauce to your lasagna as well.
  • This sauce can stay fresh in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
