Directions: Pork Chop With Apple And Mushroom Sauce Recipe

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Season the pork chops with salt and pepper on both sides. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the pork chops and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side or until they're browned and cooked through. Remove the pork chops from the skillet and set them aside, covering with foil to keep warm.
  • STEP 2.In the same skillet, add the butter. Sauté the chopped onion and garlic for 2-3 minutes or until they become translucent. Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and cook for about 5 minutes, or until they release their moisture and start to brown.
  • STEP 3.Stir in the apple slices and dried thyme, and continue cooking for an additional 3-4 minutes until the apples soften and develop a slight caramelisation. Pour in the chicken broth and heavy cream. Stir well and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
  • STEP 4.Return the cooked pork chops to the skillet, allowing them to simmer in the sauce for another 2-3 minutes, ensuring they are heated through.

Cooking Tips

  • To keep the pork chops juicy and flavourful, avoid overcooking them.
  • If you prefer a thicker sauce, you can create a slurry by mixing 1-2 tablespoons of cornstarch with an equal amount of cold water. Stir this mixture into the sauce.

Serving Tips

  • Serve your pork chops and sauce over creamy mashed potatoes.
  • Sprinkle some fresh chopped herbs, like chives or parsley, on top of the dish just before serving.
