The Hokkiens also consider certain fruits auspicious, and they are particularly fond of pineapple, ong lai in the Hokkien dialect, which literally means fortune come. Pineapple tarts are a must for Chinese New Year. This is an easy and the best pineapple tarts recipe ever. Makes these crumbly and buttery pineapple tarts.

Ingredients for Pineapple Tarts Recipe

  • 2 Nos pineapple
  • 1 stick Nos cinnamon
  • 60 gram rock sugar
  • 1 Nos clove
  • 200 gram refined flour
  • 1 Nos egg
  • 1/2 tablespoon Water
  • 100 gram margarine
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt

Directions: Pineapple Tarts Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.Wash, cut and grind pineapples. Discard the pineapple juice to reduce the cooking and cook the jam along with the juice. Mix an egg in 1 tsp of water and prepare a mixture. Cook the blend pineapple at medium low heat along with cinnamon stick for 25 minutes.

step 2

  • STEP 1.Cook it appears dry then add rock sugar and continue cooking until it attains jam like consistency of until golden brown. Now remove the cinnamon stick and clove. Turn off the flame and let it cool down. Take a bowl rub margarine flour, add egg, salt, water and knead to make a dough. Do not over knead. Now keep it in refrigerator for 30 minutes.

  • STEP 1.Use a pineapple tart mould and press the dough into it. Then place the pineapple jam on top of the cookies. Brush each cookies with egg mixture and bake them in oven at 180 degree celcius for 20 minutes.
