  • 0.06 cup Arhar Dal
  • 0.06 cup Chana Dal
  • 1/4 tablespoon Oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • 0.06 teaspoon Asafoetida
  • 1/4 Onion, Finely Chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 0.13 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Red Chili Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Coriander Powder
  • As required Salt To Taste
  • 0.13 teaspoon Garam Masala
  • 1/2 cup Water

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Soak a mixture of lentils overnight and grind them into a coarse paste.
  • STEP 2.Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, asafoetida, and chopped onions.
  • STEP 3.Add ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and coriander powder. Cook for a minute.
  • STEP 4.Add the lentil paste and cook for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • STEP 5.Add water, salt, and garam masala. Simmer for another 10 minutes until the lentils are cooked and the curry thickens.
  • STEP 6.Serve hot with steamed rice or roti.

Cooking Tips

  • You can use a combination of lentils like whole urad dal, arhar dal, and chana dal for a flavorful phaanu.
  • Make sure to soak the lentils overnight to ensure they cook properly.
  • Adjust the spice levels according to your preference by adding more or less red chili powder.
