Pesara buleru is deep fried sacrament made with a stuffing of chana dal, jaggery and coated with rice and urad dal batter. These sweet stuffed balls are deep-fried and are offered to Goddess Durga and Lakshmi, and later they are served to the family members and guests as ‘prasadam’. This dessert is prepared with rice, chana dal, moong dal, urad dal, jaggery, coconut and green cardamom powder, and all of these items can easily be found in every household’s kitchen cupboard.

Ingredients for Pesara Burelu Recipe

  • 0.17 cup Jaggery
  • 1/4 cup Sugar
  • 0.08 cup Moong dal
  • 0.08 cup Urad dal
  • 0.08 cup Parboiled rice
  • 0.17 teaspoon Cardamom powder
  • As required Oil fro frying

Directions: Pesara Burelu Recipe

  • STEP 1.Rinse and soak urad dal and parboiled rice in a vessel and grind after 4-5 hours.
  • STEP 2.Let the batter ferment for 8 hours.
  • STEP 3.Rinse and soak moong dal for 4-5 hours, make a coarse paste and keep aside.
  • STEP 4.In a pot add 2 tbsp of water, 1 cup of jaggery and ½ cup of sugar boil to prepare a syrup.
  • STEP 5.Now add the moong dal paste in the syrup and cook for 10-12 minutes in medium flame.
  • STEP 6.Add 1tsp of cardamom powder in the pot and mix.
  • STEP 7.Now take the mix in a plate and let it cool, then make small balls from it.
  • STEP 8.In a pot add oil for frying in a medium flame .
  • STEP 9.Coat the balls in the urad dal and rice batter and drop them in the pot, fry every side until golden in color.
