Ingredients for Perfect Chom Chom Recipe

  • As required Ingredients for chom choms
  • 5.50 cup Milk
  • 4 tablespoon Vinegar
  • 4.25 cup Water
  • 2 teaspoon Semolina
  • 1 pinch Baking powder
  • As required Ingredients for sugar syrup
  • 4 tablespoon Sugar
  • 2 Cardamom Nos

Directions: Perfect Chom Chom Recipe

  • STEP 1.In a vessel add 5 ½ cup of milk and bring it to a boil. Turn off the heat.
  • STEP 2.In a small bowl add ¼ cup water and 4 tbsp vinegar.
  • STEP 3.Add this to the hot milk. Mix well and allow the milk to curdle. The whey will separate form the milk solids.
  • STEP 4.Strain off the whey using a muslin cloth over a bowl.
  • STEP 1.Rinse the milk solids by pouring plain water over it. Squeeze the muslin cloth to extract all the water content from the milk solids or chenna.
  • STEP 5.Transfer the chenna to a bowl. Add 2 tsp semolina (sooji) and mix it into the chenna. add a pinch of baking powder and mix well.
  • STEP 6.Then knead the chenna well till it is a smooth dough like consistency. Portion the chenna into 12 chom choms.
  • STEP 7.In a saucepan add 4 cups of water and 2 ½ cups of sugar. Bring it to a boil and stir so that the sugar dissolves.
  • STEP 8.Grease the palms of the hands and roll the chom choms into oval cylindrical shape.
  • STEP 1.Gently drop the chom choms into the boiling sugar water. Cover and cook on high heat for 20 minutes.
  • STEP 9.Continue to cook for 3 hours on medium heat, adding 1 cup of hot water every hour. Drop in two whole cardamoms into the sugar water for flavour.
  • STEP 10.After 3 hours remove the chom choms from the sugar syrup and allow them to cool.
