A quick simple dish prepared from snails,peppers,veggies and other seasoning ingredients . The spicy, chewy goodness of peppered snail consists of boiled snails sautéed in onions, peppers and spice. This spicy Nigerian snail dish is quite easy to prepare and is a guilty pleasure of a lot of Nigerian homes.

Ingredients for Peppered Snails Recipe

  • 18 Nos Snails
  • 5 Nos Habanero Peppers
  • 1 Nos Red Bell Pepper
  • 6 Nos Plum Tomatoes
  • 1 Nos Onion
  • 2 Nos Maggi Cubes
  • 1 Cooking Spoon Vegetable Oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ginger powder
  • As required Salt
  • 3 Nos lemon
  • As required Water

Directions: Peppered Snails Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.Clean and cut the snail into an open book like shape

step 2

  • STEP 2.Transfer the snails into the bowl and squeeze the lime juice over it

step 3

  • STEP 3.Scrub the snails with lime juice

step 4

  • STEP 4.Now add salt and wash it with water to get rid of the slimy substance

step 5

  • STEP 5.Rinse it 4-5 times

step 6

  • STEP 1. place the snails in a cooking pot.

  • STEP 1. Add in 1/2 tsp salt, chopped onions and add water

step 8

  • STEP 1.Cover and leave it to boil for 20 mins

step 9

  • STEP 1. After 20 mins drain the water and keep it aside

step 10

  • STEP 1. Take a pan add oil & heat it.

  • STEP 1. Now add chopped onions and saute it

step 12

  • STEP 1.Add in chopped tomatoes and peppers

step 13

  • STEP 1. Cover and cook for 10 mins

step 14

  • STEP 1. Now add seasoning cubes,1/2 tsp salt,1/4 tsp ginger powder,1/2 tsp garlic powder

step 15

  • STEP 1. Lastly ,add snails and cook it for 5 mins with the lid on

step 16

  • STEP 1. Turn off the flame and serve
