The name arrabiata means angry in Italian language. the word angry here, refers to the spiciness in the pasta. The spicy sauce for pasta is made of garlic, tomatoes and dried red chilli peppers cooked in olive oil. The sauce is the speciality of this pasta which originates from Rome and is one of the most popular dishes there. A well prepeared Dutch pasta recipe.

Ingredients for Penne Arrabiata Recipe

  • 1 liter Water
  • As required Salt
  • 250 gram rigate paste
  • 4 No.s Tomatoes
  • 4-5 No.s dry red chillies
  • 2 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon chopped garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chilli flakes
  • 1 teaspoon mixed Italian herbs
  • 1/2 teaspoon chilli powder
  • 2 tablespoon tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon parmesan cheese

Directions: Penne Arrabiata Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.1. Boil 1 litre water and add 1 tsp salt to it.

step 2

  • STEP 2.2. Add pasta to the boiling water and let it cook.

  • STEP 1.3. Drain the extra water and keep it aside. Take some tomatoes and cut them across.

  • STEP 1.5. Boil tomatoes and red chillies for 10 minutes. Take them out of the water and peel them. Chop them and blend them with chillies to make a smooth puree.

  • STEP 1.1. In a pan take olive oil, garlic, chilli flakes and ½ tsp mixed italian herbs. Saute for 1 minute.

  • STEP 3.3. Add chopped onions and cook it at medium heat until it turns golden.

  • STEP 4.4. Pour the tomato puree in the pan and cook it uncovered for 5 minutes at medium flame.

  • STEP 5.5. Add red chilli powder, italian herbs, salt and tomato sauce.

  • STEP 6.6. Add boiled pasta to the pan and let it simmer for 5 minutes at low flame.

  • STEP 7.7. Add 1 tsp parmesan cheese and your pasta is ready.
