Maharastrian cuisine can be divided into two styles Konkan and Vardi. Coastal regions have Konkan cuisine while rest have Vardi. Maharastrian Cuisine is very diverse as the flavours and spices differ in different parts of the state. Some of the Maharastrian dishes like Pav bhaji, Vada pav, Misal pav etc. spread their fame all over India. Some traditional Maharastrian food includes Thalipeeth, Bharli vaangi, Zunka, Aamti, Sol kadhi and many more. Pav bhaji is popular street food which can be consumed as a snack or dinner. Boiled , mashed and spiced veggies paired with buttered fluffy buns, make this dish a satisfactory mini meal.

Ingredients for Pav bhaji Recipe

  • 3/4 cups boiled and mashed mix veggies (potato
  • 1/4 Pieces Brinjal
  • 1/4 A Handful Cauliflower
  • 1/4 A Handful Cabbage
  • 1/4 Pieces carrots )
  • 0.06 cup Boiled green peas
  • 1/2 Pieces Finely chopped tomatoes
  • 1/2 Pieces Finely chopped onions
  • 1/4 tbsp Finely chopped
  • 1/4 tbsp Chopped cashew nuts
  • 1/4 tbsp Pavbhaji masala
  • 1/4 tbsp Red chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tbsp Oil/butter
  • 2 Pieces Pavs
  • As Required Butter for pav

Directions: Pav Bhaji Recipe

  • STEP 1.1. Boil and mash vegetables.
  • STEP 2.2. Heat oil and saute onion and garlic till it becomes transparent.
  • STEP 3.3. Then add tomatoes and saute till it becomes soft and mushy.
  • STEP 4.4. Then add all spices, mix well and saute till oil separates.
  • STEP 5.5. Then add mashed vegetable and about one cup of water. Mix well.
  • STEP 6.6. Let it cook on medium flame for few minutes.
  • STEP 7.7. Then add boiled peas and cashew nuts. Cook for a couple of minutes and turn off the flame.
  • STEP 8.8. Heat the skillet and saute buns with butter.
  • STEP 9.9. Add a dollop of butter in bhaji. Garnish with coriander. Serve hot with buttered bun, lemon wedges ,fresh onions etc.
