This dish is adapted from a non vegetarian dish common in Kerala.
I have tried a vegetarian version of it.same thing can be done with big Brinjal slices .
The flavour of coconut milk and the spices blend gives an awesome taste
Ingredients for Paneer steak in banana leaf Recipe
200 gms Paneer slab
1 tsp red chilly powder
1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
3/4 tsp Ginger paste
1 tsp Garlic paste
1/2 tsp Lemon juice
to taste Salt
2 tbsp Oil
1 Pieces Onion
10 Pieces Shallots
1 tsp Ginger juluens
2 g reen chilly
1 cup Thick coconut milk
to taste Salt
A Stem Curry leaves
6 Inches Banana leaf
1 Pieces Tomato
Directions: Paneer Steak In Banana Leaf Recipe
STEP 1.Marinate paneer in red chilly powder, turmeric powder,salt,ginger and garlic paste,salt and lemon juice .keep aside for 15 to 30 mts
STEP 2.Heat a pan.
STEP 3.Add 1 tbsp oil and put the paneer marinated and cook on both sides till slight colour cones .
STEP 4.Keep aside
STEP 5.In the same pan add the remaining oil and put onion slices and saute
STEP 6.Add ginger juliens green chilly and saute.
STEP 7.Add the remaining chilly and turmeric powder.
STEP 8.Mix nicely .
STEP 9.Check seasoning.
STEP 10.Add the paneer piece and cover with madala.
STEP 11.Keep aside
STEP 12.Take the banana leaf.
STEP 13.Slightly warm in the flame .
STEP 14.Place the banana leaf in a pan, preferably use an earthen pot and put the banana leaf.
STEP 15.Place some masala and keep the paneer slice .cover with rest of the masala and add coconut milk .
STEP 16.Fold the banana leaf and put a weight ,preferably a clean stone ( optional).or fold nicely .
STEP 17.Lught the flame and cook on high for 5 mts
STEP 18.Lower the flame and cook for 15 mts .
STEP 19.The banana leaf will burn slughtly which indicates the dush is done.
