  • 1/20 cup Chana Dal
  • 1/5 Large Onion, Finely Chopped
  • 1/2 En Chilies, Finely Chopped
  • 1/5 inch Ginger, Grated

  • 1/10 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • As required Salt To Taste

  • STEP 1.Soak urad dal and chana dal for a few hours, then grind them into a smooth batter.
  • STEP 2.Add finely chopped onions, green chilies, ginger, curry leaves, and spices to the batter.
  • STEP 3.Heat oil in a deep pan, shape the batter into small patties, and deep fry until golden brown.
  • STEP 4.Serve hot with coconut chutney or tomato ketchup.

Cooking Tips

  • Make sure the batter is not too watery or too thick. It should have a dropping consistency.
  • You can add a pinch of baking soda to the batter to make the vadas more fluffy.
