Uttapam is a delicious South Indian tiffin breakfast of thick pancakes made with either idli batter or dosa batter. Uttapam is a light dish that is easy to make and delicious to eat, all it takes is pulse, rice and some vegetables of one's choice chopped up finely. You can include it in your healthy breakfast diet.

Ingredients for Onion Uttapam Recipe

  • 0.38 cup dosa rice
  • 0.13 cup urad dal
  • 0.13 teaspoon methi
  • 1/2 tablespoon chana dal
  • 0.13 cup poha
  • As required Salt
  • 0.13 teaspoon Sugar
  • 0.13 cup chopped onions
  • 1/2 No.s chopped green chillies
  • 1/2 tablespoon Coriander leaves
  • 1.50-1.75 No.s Curry leaves
  • As required Oil to grease

Directions: Onion Uttapam Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.In a bowl take dosa rice, urad dal, methi and chana dal. Soak them in water for 6 hours.

step 2

  • STEP 1.After 6 hours blend these ingredients with poha to make a smooth batter. Keep it in a warm place for 8 hours for fermentation. Add salt and sugar mix well.

step 5

  • STEP 1.In a separate bowl take chopped onions, green chillies, coriander leaves and curry leaves.

  • STEP 1.Heat the pan and sprinkle some water in it and wipe it.

step 7

  • STEP 1.Take ½ cup batter and make a thick dosa. Now add onion mixture on top.

step 9

  • STEP 1.Press the uttapam lightly so it cooks well. Cover the uttapam and cook for a minute then add 1 tsp of oil and cook for another minute. flip it over and cook until golden brown.
