This raw onion salad from north India can be made with red, white, or sweet onions, depending on your preferences. A dish that is vegan. Onion salad, known as pyaaz ka lachcha in Hindi, is a simple salad made with onion rings. It's a simple side dish that's common in north Indian restaurants and dhabas/roadside eateries. They're frequently served with tandoori or grilled Indian appetisers and munchies. They go well with pulao, biryani, tandoori dishes like paneer tikka, and rich curry dishes like chana masala, paneer butter masala, shahi paneer, kadai paneer or malai kofta, as well as naan or tandoori roti. Thinly sliced onion rings are seasoned with lemon juice, red chilli powder, and salt in this onion rings salad. As a result, you can easily prepare these lachcha onions at home to serve as a side dish with a north Indian meal. Sirke wale pyaaz, or pickled onions, is another famous onion side dish that goes well with tandoori items or rich curry dishes. Many Indian eateries serve these onion salads and sirke wale pyaaz as an addition.

  • 1 Onion
  • As required Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Soy Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoon canola oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Sugar
  • As required Katsuobushi

Directions: Onion Salad Recipe

  • STEP 1.Thinly slice the onions
  • STEP 2.Soak them in salty water for a minute and squeeze out the water
  • STEP 3.In a bowl mix soy sauce, rice vinegar, oil and sugar
  • STEP 4.Mix onions with the sauce
  • STEP 5.Top with katsuobushi and serve
