Ingredients for Onion Lehyam Recipe

  • 10 Nos indian long pepper
  • 10 Nos green cardamom
  • As required A handful almonds
  • As required A handful cashews
  • 1/2 Nos fresh coconut
  • 1/2 kilogram small onion
  • 1 cup Water
  • 250 gram palm jaggery
  • 2 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoon Ghee

step 1

  • STEP 1.Crush indian long pepper & green cardamom with the hand crusher

step 2

  • STEP 2.Dry roast almonds & cashews for 5 mins

step 3

  • STEP 3.Grind roasted almonds and cashews together

step 4

  • STEP 4.Cut coconut into pieces and then grind it along with 2 cup of water

step 5

  • STEP 5.Now strain the grinded coconut paste and extract 1 coconut milk.

step 6

  • STEP 1.add shallots and one cup of water in a pressure cooker and cook for 1 whistle.

  • STEP 1.let the boiled shallots rest for 30 mins and then grind it along with the leftover water.

  • STEP 1.in a vessel add one of water and boil the jaggery in it.

  • STEP 1.strain jaggery water with the sieve.

  • STEP 1.take a kadai, add coconut milk & onion paste and mix it.

  • STEP 1.now cook it at medium flame for 20 mins.

  • STEP 6.7.after 20 mins add sesame oil & ghee.

step 13

  • STEP 7.8.then add jaggery syrup and mix well.

  • STEP 8.9.cook it until it becomes thick and then add crushed cardamom & indian long pepper.

step 15

  • STEP 9.10.after 20-25 mins of cooking add almond & cashew powder.

step 16

  • STEP 10.11.mix well and stir continuously for 10-15 mins.

step 17

  • STEP 11.12.now turn off the flame and serve
