Ingredients for One-Pot Sausage Rice Recipe

  • 1/2 cup Basmati rice
  • 3 Pieces Chicken sausages, sliced
  • 1/2 cup Onion
  • 1/2 tbsp Ginger-garlic paste
  • 1.50 Tbsp Frozen green peas
  • 1.50 Tbsp Carrot
  • 1/4 Tbsp garam masala
  • 1/4 Tsp Black pepper
  • to taste Salt
  • 1 cups water
  • 1 tbsp Ghee or clarified butter

Directions: One-pot Sausage Rice Recipe

  • STEP 1.Heat a pot over a medium flame. Add ghee and allow to heat up.
  • STEP 2.Then add the chopped onions and cook for a few minutes until it turns golden brown in colour.
  • STEP 3.Add ginger-garlic paste and cook until the raw smell goes away.
  • STEP 4.Add green peas and chopped carrots. Give them a stir. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
  • STEP 5.Then add the chopped sausages. Mix well. Cook for a couple of minutes.
  • STEP 6.Lower the flame. Add garam masala powder, crushed black pepper and salt. Give them a good mix and cook for another minute.
  • STEP 7.Add soaked rice and give a gentle stir. Cook for a minute.
  • STEP 8.Pour 2 cups of water. Give a stir and bring it to a boil over a medium-high flame.
  • STEP 9.Lower the flame and cover the pot with a lid.
  • STEP 10.Cook until the rice is fully cooked and the water has been completely absorbed. It may take around 5-10 minutes depending upon the quality of the rice you are using.
  • STEP 11.Note: While the rice is cooking, check a few times whether there is enough water in the pot. If all the water has been absorbed and the rice is still uncooked. Then pour more water. And continue cooking till the rice is cooked.
  • STEP 12.Uncover the pot and fluff the rice with the help of a fork.
  • STEP 13.Check if the rice has cooked completely.
  • STEP 14.Make sure all the water has been absorbed. Then turn the flame off.
  • STEP 15.The rice might look a little moist but don’t worry, just cover it again with a lid. Let it rest for 10-15 minutes. Rice will absorb all the moisture.
  • STEP 16.One-pot chicken sausage rice/pulao is ready to serve!
