Directions: Obbattu Saaru/poli Rasam Recipe

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.In a pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and curry leaves. Let them splutter.
  • STEP 2.Add chopped onions and sauté until they turn translucent.
  • STEP 3.Add chopped tomatoes, tamarind pulp, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for a few minutes.
  • STEP 4.Add the leftover obbattu or poli stuffing and mix it with the masala.
  • STEP 5.Add water and bring the mixture to a boil. Simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  • STEP 6.Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot as a soup or with steamed rice.

Cooking Tips

  • Adjust the spice level according to your preference by adding more or less red chili powder.
  • You can add a pinch of asafoetida (hing) for additional flavor.
  • If the rasam is too thick, add more water to adjust the consistency.
