Ingredients for Oats Upma Recipe

  • 1/2 cup Rolled Oats
  • 1/2 tablespoon Oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon urad dal
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 sprig curry leaves
  • 5 No.s cashew nuts, whole
  • 1/2 inch ginger, finely chopped
  • 1 No.s chilli, slit
  • 1/4 piece onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 piece carrot, finely chopped
  • 2.50 No.s beans, finely chopped
  • 0.13 No.s capsicum, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon peas / matar
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric
  • 0.38 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 1 tablespoon coriander, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon coconut, grated
  • 1/2 tablespoon Lemon juice

Directions: Oats Upma Recipe

  • STEP 1.In a large pot heat 1 tbsp oil and add 1 tsp mustard seeds let the seeds splutter then add ½ tsp urad dal, ½ tsp cumin, few curry leaves and 10 cashew nuts.
  • STEP 2.Saute for 2-3 minutes then add 1 inch grated ginger, 2 chilies and ½ chopped onion, ½ chopped carrot, 5 beans, ¼ capsicum, 2 tbsp peas, ½ tsp turmeric and ½ tsp salt.
  • STEP 3.Add 2 tbsp water, cover the pot with lid and simmer for 5 minutes.
  • STEP 4.Now add 1 cup water and get it to a boil. If using instant oats, just add ¼ cup water.
  • STEP 5.Once the water comes to a boil, add in roasted oats and mix well.
  • STEP 6.Mix until the oats absorb all the water. Cover with lid and let throats cook
  • STEP 7.Add ¼ tsp salt, 2 tbsp coriander, 2 tbsp coconut and 1 tbsp lemon juice.
  • STEP 8.Serve in a bowl and enjoy vegetable oats upma.
