  • 1/4 cup Split Yellow Moong Dal
  • 1 Onions, Chopped
  • 1 Tomatoes, Chopped
  • 1 Green Chilies, Chopped
  • 1/2 tablespoon Ginger Garlic Paste

Directions: Nombu Kanji/porridge Biryani Recipe

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Wash and soak rice and lentils for 30 minutes.
  • STEP 2.In a pressure cooker, heat ghee and add whole spices like cinnamon, cardamom, and cloves.
  • STEP 3.Add chopped onions and saute until golden brown.
  • STEP 4.Add ginger-garlic paste, green chilies, and chopped tomatoes.
  • STEP 5.Cook until the tomatoes are soft and mushy.
  • STEP 6.Add soaked rice, lentils, and water.
  • STEP 7.Pressure cook for 3-4 whistles or until the rice and lentils are cooked.
  • STEP 8.Mash the mixture slightly to get a porridge-like consistency.
  • STEP 9.Garnish with fried onions, mint leaves, and coriander leaves.
  • STEP 10.Serve hot with raita or pickle.

  • You can add vegetables like carrots, peas, or beans for added nutrition.
  • Adjust the spice levels according to your preference.
