  • 0.33 Onion, Finely Chopped
  • 0.33 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • 0.17 teaspoon Asafoetida
  • 0.33 teaspoon Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 0.17 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 0.33 teaspoon Red Chili Powder
  • 0.33 teaspoon Coriander Powder

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Wash and soak the lentils for 30 minutes.
  • STEP 2.Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, asafoetida, and chopped onions. Saute until onions turn golden brown.
  • STEP 3.Add ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and coriander powder. Cook for a minute.
  • STEP 4.Add chopped ridge gourd and soaked lentils. Mix well and add water. Cover and cook until lentils and ridge gourd are tender.
  • STEP 5.Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with roti or rice.

Cooking Tips

  • Make sure to soak the lentils before cooking to ensure they cook evenly and become soft.
  • You can adjust the spice level according to your preference by adding more or less red chili powder.
