 This is a very quick easy dish prepared from rice,shrimps & fish.. And like many well loved recipes, this has travelled and changed slightly and it is now commonly found all over Malaysia as well as in Southern Thailand and Indonesia.Spicy in taste.Good in taste.Yummy and tasty dish.

Ingredients for Nasi Ulam Recipe

  • 130 gram fish
  • 130 gram Shrimps
  • 140 gram grated coconut
  • 5 cm turmeric fresh
  • stalk A lemongrass
  • 3 cm galangal
  • 1 Nos ginger torch flower
  • 1 Nos shallot
  • 4 Nos kaffir lime leaves
  • 5 Nos mint leaves
  • 6 Nos Vietnamese coriander/daun kesum
  • 5 Nos wild pepper leaf
  • 6 Nos thai basil leaf
  • 1/2 Nos turmeric leaf
  • 1 Nos chilli peppers
  • 2 Nos calamansi

Directions: Nasi Ulam Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.Cut lemongrass, turmeric,galangal,ginger torch flower and shallot in thin pieces.

step 2

  • STEP 2.Slice turmeric leaf, kafir lime leaves,mint leaves,vitnamese coriander,wild leaf pepper and thai basil leaf very thinly.

step 4

  • STEP 3.1.in a pan dry roast shredded coconut until it turns brown

step 5

  • STEP 4.2.now add a tbsp of oil to fry dried shrimps and salted fish and saute it

step 6

  • STEP 5.3.let them cool down and grind roasted coconut,shrimps and salted fish separately finely.

step 7

  • STEP 6.4.now pour the shredded coconut,salted fish and dried shrimps onto rice.

step 8

  • STEP 7.5.mix thoroughly and then add sliced ingredients such as lemongrass, turmeric,galangal,ginger torch flower and shallot.

step 9

  • STEP 8.6.lastly add sliced leafy herbs and mix well.

step 10

  • STEP 9.7.squeeze calamansi juice onto the rice and garnish with some sliced red chillies.
