Directions: Mutton Uppu Kandam Recipe

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.In a bowl, marinate the mutton pieces with turmeric powder, red chili powder, ginger-garlic paste, and salt.
  • STEP 2.Heat oil in a pressure cooker and add the marinated mutton. Cook until the mutton turns brown.
  • STEP 3.Add chopped onions, tomatoes, and green chilies. Saute until the onions turn golden brown.
  • STEP 4.Add coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well.
  • STEP 5.Add water and pressure cook for about 4-5 whistles or until the mutton is tender.
  • STEP 6.Once the pressure is released, open the cooker and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
  • STEP 7.Serve hot with steamed rice or roti.

Cooking Tips

  • Marinating the mutton for at least 30 minutes enhances the flavor.
  • You can adjust the spice level according to your preference by adding more or less chili powder.
  • If you don't have a pressure cooker, you can cook the mutton in a heavy-bottomed pan on low heat until tender.
