Simple spicy mutton haleem recipe inspired from Hyderabadi style of cooking. It is a generic and traditional Ramadan delicacy served as a special meal during the fasting or iftar.

Ingredients for Mutton Haleem Recipe

  • As required For cooking mutton
  • 750 gram boneless mutton/meat
  • 10 No.s green chillies
  • 2 teaspoon ginger garlic paste
  • 3/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 4 No.s small cinnamon sticks
  • 4 No.s Cloves
  • 3 No.s green cardamoms
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper corns
  • NaN As required Salt
  • 4 cup Water
  • As required For cooking dals
  • 1/2 cup daliya
  • 1 teaspoon mash split black gram
  • 1 teaspoon pigeon peas
  • 1 teaspoon chick pea gram
  • 1 teaspoon yellow dal
  • 1 teaspoon Rice
  • As required Other ingredients
  • 3 tablespoon Oil
  • 4 No.s Onions
  • 1/2 bunch coriander leaves
  • 1/2 bunch Mint leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper corn powder
  • 1.50 cup beaten yogurt
  • 6 tablespoon pure ghee
  • As required For garnishing
  • 1 stalk Coriander leaves
  • 1 stalk Mint leaves
  • 1/4 cup Deep fried onions
  • 2 No.s Lemons

Directions: Mutton Haleem Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.1. Firstly, in a pressure cooker, add the mutton chunks, about 8 green chillies, ginger garlic paste.

step 2

  • STEP 2.Add whole spices such as cloves, cardamoms, cinnamon, caraway seeds, black pepper corns. Add salt and turmeric powder. Now add little water, mix well.

step 3

  • STEP 3.Take a pressure cooker, into it add daliya, urad dal, toovar dal, chana dal, yellow moong dal and rice. Now add about 3 glasses of water and pressure cook until the dals get soft.

step 4

  • STEP 4.In a blender, add the cooked mutton and blend into a fine paste and transfer it into a bowl.

step 5

  • STEP 5.In the same blender, add the cooked dals and blend into a fine paste and keep aside.

step 6

  • STEP 6.1. In a different pan, add oil, 4 sliced onions and fry, add ginger garlic paste and mix. Add fresh coriander leaves, mint leaves, green chillies, mix well. Now add black pepper corn powder, turmeric powder and mix well. Now add beaten yogurt, mix and cook.

step 7

  • STEP 7.2. Add the blended paste of dals and also the blended paste of mutton into it. Mix it well and keep stirring. Now add the mutton stock and mix well.

step 8

  • STEP 8.3. Add pure ghee all over and mix.cover the lid and cook it for about 15 minutes. Haleem is ready to serve.
