A Kerala style curry, Moru is a yogurt based curry that can be made either with or without coconut. The word “Moru” refers to “buttermilk” in Malayalam.

Ingredients for Moru Curry Recipe

  • 1/4 tablespoon Coconut oil
  • 1/4 cup Curd
  • 1/4 tablespoon Gram flour
  • 0.13 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 0.06 teaspoon Fenugreek seeds
  • 0.06 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1/2 No.s Dry red chilly
  • 1/4 Curry leaves stem
  • 1/4 No.s Split Green chilly
  • 0.06 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • As required Salt

Directions: Moru Curry Recipe

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Heat 1 tbsp coconut oil in a vessel on a medium flame.
  • STEP 2.In a separate bowl take 1 cup of curd. Add 1 tbsp of gram flour and whisk it well.
  • STEP 3.When the vessel is heated and add ½ tsp of mustard seeds.
  • STEP 4.Once the mustards seeds have spluttered then add in ¼ tsp of fenugreek seeds and ¼ tsp of cumin seeds.
  • STEP 5.Now to the vessel add 1 stem of plucked curry leaves, 2 dry red chillies and 1 green chilly split in half.
  • STEP 6.Pour out the bowl of curd and gram flour whisked together. Mix everything.
  • STEP 7.For the final seasoning add ¼ tsp of turmeric powder and a pinch of salt to taste.
  • STEP 8.Turn off the flame when steam starts rising up from the flame. The moru curry is ready to be served hot.
