- 3/4 cup Split yellow moong dal
- 1/2 cup Onions finely chopped
- 1/2 cup Tomatoes finely chopped
- 1 No.s Green chilli slit
- 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric
- 1/2 teaspoon Red chilli powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Ginger chopped
- 1 teaspoon Garam Masala
- As required Salt
- 1 tablespoon Ghee
- 1 tablespoon Garlic finely chopped

How to Make Moong Dal Ka Shorba Recipe
Preparation Directions
STEP 01
Wash and soak ¾ cup split yellow moong dal for 30 minutes.
Cooking Directions
STEP 01
In a pressure cooker add ¾ cup soaked and drained split yellow moong dal, ½ cup finely chopped onions, ½ cup chopped tomatoes, 1 slit green chilli, ½ tsp red chilli powder, ½ tsp turmeric powder, ½ tsp chopped ginger, 1 tsp garam masala, salt to taste and 2 cups of water. Pressure cook for 3 whistles. Turn off the heat.
STEP 02
Allow the pressure to release. Open the cooker. Dal will be thick but cooked soft.
STEP 03
For the tempering, in a pan add 1 tbsp ghee, 1 tbsp finely chopped garlic. Saute for a few seconds till the aroma of the garlic comes through.
STEP 04
Add the cooked dal to the tempering, add 1 cup of water and mix well.
STEP 05
Whisk the dal. Adding water thins the consistency of the dal.
STEP 06
Bring the shorba to a boil and mix well. Shorba is ready. Turn off the heat and remove the green chilli.
STEP 07
Serve the shorba in a bowl and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
