How to Make Moong Dal Ka Shorba Recipe

Preparation Directions

STEP 01

Wash and soak ¾ cup split yellow moong dal for 30 minutes.

Cooking Directions

STEP 01

In a pressure cooker add ¾ cup soaked and drained split yellow moong dal, ½ cup finely chopped onions, ½ cup chopped tomatoes, 1 slit green chilli, ½ tsp red chilli powder, ½ tsp turmeric powder, ½ tsp chopped ginger, 1 tsp garam masala, salt to taste and 2 cups of water. Pressure cook for 3 whistles. Turn off the heat.

STEP 02

Allow the pressure to release. Open the cooker. Dal will be thick but cooked soft.

STEP 03

For the tempering, in a pan add 1 tbsp ghee, 1 tbsp finely chopped garlic. Saute for a few seconds till the aroma of the garlic comes through.

STEP 04

Add the cooked dal to the tempering, add 1 cup of water and mix well.

STEP 05

Whisk the dal. Adding water thins the consistency of the dal.

STEP 06

Bring the shorba to a boil and mix well. Shorba is ready. Turn off the heat and remove the green chilli.

STEP 07

Serve the shorba in a bowl and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
