Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Wash and soak the moong dal for 30 minutes.
  • STEP 2.In a pressure cooker, add the soaked dal, water, turmeric powder, and salt. Cook for 3-4 whistles or until the dal is soft.
  • STEP 3.Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, and curry leaves. Let them splutter.
  • STEP 4.Add chopped onions and saut茅 until golden brown.
  • STEP 5.Add ginger-garlic paste and saut茅 for a minute.
  • STEP 6.Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn mushy.
  • STEP 7.Add red chili powder, coriander powder, and garam masala. Mix well.
  • STEP 8.Add the cooked moong dal and mix everything together.
  • STEP 9.Simmer for 5-10 minutes until the flavors blend well.
  • STEP 10.Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti.
