Moo Daeng is a widely available and popular Thai dish. It starts with a scoop of rice and usually includes a few slices of red barbecued pork, some crispy pork belly, a few slices of Chinese sausage, half a boiled egg, and a few sprigs of cilantro and shoots of green onions. This delecious dish can be served with jasmine rice, boiled eggs, and cucumber.

Ingredients for Moo Deng Recipe

  • 1 stick Cinnamon
  • 1 Star anise
  • 1 tablespoon Soy Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Palm sugar
  • 1.50 tablespoon Ketchup
  • 2-3 garlic cloves
  • As required Red Food Coloring
  • 30 gram Peanuts
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon fish sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon Soy Sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon sesame oil

Directions: Moo Deng Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.Roast the cinnamon stick and star anise for a few mins until the flavor enhances.

step 2

  • STEP 2.Take them out in a bowl and add 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp oyster sauce, sugar, salt, palm sugar, ketchup, 3tbsp water and mix the paste until the sugar dissolves and it forms a smooth paste.

  • STEP 3.Add 1tsp chopped garlic, one drop for food coloring. Add the pork pieces and leave it to marinate at least for 3hour( for better taste and results keep it overnight).

  • STEP 1.Roast the peanuts in a pan until brown and aroma infused. Then roast 1 tbsp sesame seeds in the same way. Pound the roasted peanuts until crumbs.

  • STEP 4.Make a slurry of tapioca powder and water (each 1tbsp).

  • STEP 5.Now in a saucepan, add the marinated pork and the mixture, add 1 cup of water, cover the lid and let it come to boil. Boil of 15mins

step 8

  • STEP 6.Turn the heat to medium flame and flip the pork to another side and cook it for another 10-15mins covering the lid.

  • STEP 7.Once the pork is 90% cooked, turn off the flame, take it out in an oven tray, let it cool a little and then put it in the oven and bake it at 415 degrees fahrenheit for 5mins.

  • STEP 8.With the remaining marinate bring it to boil and then add fish sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, roasted sesame seeds, and the roasted crushed peanuts, stir it.

step 11

  • STEP 1.Add more one cup of water, give it a good stir and then add the slurry. Keep stirring it for another few minutes. Add the baked pork pieces in curry, slice the pork to ring shapes.
