Melt in the mouth lamb chops simmered in a flavourful broth with cumin, pepper, ginger garlic and chillies and then deep fried till crispy.Mongolian Lamb is an Aussie favourite, found on the menu of every suburban Chinese restaurant. At “posher” establishments, it might even arrive at the table on a hot iron plate, sizzling and spitting for theatric effect! Sizzle aside, this homemade version is a near perfect replica. Even the velveted texture of the lamb!

Ingredients for Mongolian Crispy Lamb Chops Recipe

  • 850 gram Lamb chops
  • 5 No.s Garlic Cloves
  • 5 gram Ginger
  • 2 No.s Spring onions
  • 2 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1 tablespoon White Pepper
  • 4 tablespoon Soy sauce
  • 6 No.s Dried red chillies

Directions: Mongolian Crispy Lamb Chops Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.1 place 850 gm lamb chopped in a pan, add 1 ltr boiling water and boil for 2 minutes. Remove and drain. Discard the boiling water.

step 2

  • STEP 2.2 place the chops back in the empty pan, add 2 tsp cumin seeds ,1 tbsp white pepper powder, 6 dried red chillies, 2 roughly chopped spring onions, 5 gm sliced ginger, 5 cloves sliced garlic, 4 tbsp soy sauce, 1 ltr cold water and bring to a boil.

step 3

  • STEP 3.3 cover and simmer for 1 hour on medium heat till the lamb is tender.

  • STEP 4.4 then remove and drain the lamb chops.

step 5

  • STEP 5.5 in a wok heat 1 ltr oil till hot, insert a chopstick into the hot oil, if it bubbles then oil has reached the correct temperature.

step 6

  • STEP 6.6 place the chops in the hot oil and deep fry for 5 minutes until golden.

step 7

  • STEP 7.7 remove the chops from the hot oil and drain off the excess grease.

step 8

  • STEP 8.8 then arrange the lamb chops in a dish and serve.
