STEP 1.In a mixing bowl add wet rice flour, urad dal flour, cumin seeds, hing, crushed black pepper, butter and salt.
STEP 2.Mix the dry ingredients and add water in small quantities to prepare a dough.
STEP 3.In a banana leaf grease oil (plastic wrap can also be used), take a small amount of dough and flatten over banana leaf.
STEP 4.In a pot, heat oil for frying, once the oil is hot drop the flattened dough in the oil and stir on medium flame until it appears golden in color.
STEP 5.Remove the chekkalu from the pot and remove excess oil by damping a tissue paper on the chekkalu.
STEP 6.Serve after 5 minutes for the crisp and crunch in the chekkalu
