An evening snack which is very popular in the northern region of India. These are salty cookies stuffed with the goodness of fenugreek leaves. Savory, flaky and deep fried snack made with flour, cumin and kasuri methi. Mathri is not only popular in North India but also a snack of Rajasthan as well. It is mainly prepared to mark the festivals of Diwali, Holi and Durga Puja.

Ingredients for Methi Mathri Recipe

  • 1/20 cup All purpose flour
  • As required Salt
  • 0.03 teaspoon carom seeds
  • 0.03 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/50 cup clarified melted butter
  • 1/20 cup chopped Fenugreek leaves
  • As required Water

Directions: Methi Mathri Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.1. In a bowl take all purpose flour, salt, carom seeds, black pepper, melted butter, chopped 2. Fenugreek leaves and a little water.

step 2

  • STEP 1.2. Knead a tight dough and let it rest for 15 minutes.

step 3

  • STEP 1.3. Roll to make a big circle and prick all over using a fork. cut into small pieces.

step 5

  • STEP 1.5. Deep fry the mathri in hot oil till the mathri gets golden brown.
