#paneer Paneer Methi Matar Malai is a flavourful North Indian dish with a rich cream milk based gravy made with paneer,nuts,fresh methi leaves ,milk and malai or cream. The nutty flavour and aroma of fresh methi or fenugreek leaves makes it all the more flavourful. The sweetness of green peas, alongwith paneer and rich cream balances the bitterness of methi leaves. There are several versions of recipe and this is the simplest way to make restaurant style paneer at home

Ingredients for Methi Malai Matar Paneer Recipe

  • 66.67 gms fresh paneer (cottage cheese)
  • 0.33 cup Frozen green peas
  • 1/2 cups methi (fenugreek) leaves chopped
  • 0.33 tsp Kasoori methi
  • 0.67 tbsp Malai or fresh cream
  • 0.33 tbsp White sesame seeds
  • 2.33 Pieces Whole cashewnuts (kaju)
  • 0.33 g onion chopped roughly
  • 0.33 tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder
  • 0.67 g reen chillies
  • 1.33 g 4-5 G
  • 0.33 tsp Ginger paste
  • 0.17 tsp Garlic paste
  • As Required Salt to
  • As Required As taste Sugar
  • 0.08 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 g reen cardamoms
  • 1 Pieces cloves
  • 0.67 Pieces Cardamom
  • 0.33 cup Milk
  • 0.17 cup water
  • 0.17 tsp Garam masala powder
  • 0.33 tbsp Coriander chopped
  • 1 tbsp Vegetable oil
  • 0.33 tsp Ghee

Directions: Methi Malai Matar Paneer Recipe

  • STEP 1.1.Cut paneer into 1 inch cube pieces. Clean,chop and wash methi leaves. Drain water completely. Blanch green peas. Set aside. Boil chopped onion alongwith cashewnuts. Cool and make a paste of it alongwith sesame seeds, green chilli and 1 tbsp thick malai and kashmiri red chilli powder.
  • STEP 2.2. I tossed the methi leaves first in 1 tsp oil to remove the bitterness. Heat oil and saute fresh paneer for 30 seconds. Set fried paneer aside. In the remaining oil, add 1 tsp ghee. Sprinkle cumin seeds and half crushed whole garam masala. When they splutter, add minced garlic and fry till light brown.
  • STEP 3.3. Add the ground paste,ginger garlic paste, 1/2 tsp coriander powder, bay leaf, salt and 1/4 th tsp sugar to taste. Saute few minutes and add the peas.
  • STEP 4.4. Add 1/2 cup milk and 1/2 cup water. Sprinkle garam masala, kasoori methi and chopped coriander. Add sauteed paneer and cook for 2 minutes. Add rest of the cream and serve as side dish.
