Ingredients for Methi Ki Dal Recipe

  • 0.33 cup toovar dal
  • 0.17 cup chopped fresh fenugreek leaves
  • 0.17 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 0.17 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 0.17 cup chopped onions
  • 0.33 teaspoon grated garlic
  • 0.33 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 0.17 cup chopped tomatoes
  • 0.17 teaspoon chilli powder
  • 0.33 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 0.17 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 0.33 teaspoon Lemon juice
  • 0.33 teaspoon oil + Butter
  • As required Salt
  • 0.17 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 0.08 teaspoon Asafoetida
  • As required cinnamon, clove, red chilli,bay leaves

Directions: Methi Ki Dal Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.1 wash the dal and soak it in water for an hour. Drain and discard the water.

step 2

  • STEP 2.2 add 2 cups of water, turmeric, salt, dal and pressure cook it for 10 to 15 minutes.

step 3

  • STEP 3.3 heat the butter and oil in a non-stick pan, add the cumin ,mustard seeds and allow them to crackle. Add all the spices, asafoetida and saute it for a few seconds.

  • STEP 4.4 add the onions and cook till the onions turn semi transparent/ translucent.

step 5

  • STEP 5.5 add ginger, garlic, tomatoes and cook until tomatoes turn soft.

step 6

  • STEP 6.6 add some fenugreek leaves and saute them for 3-4 minute.

step 7

  • STEP 7.8 add coriander powder, chilli powder, garam masala and cook for 2 to 3 minutes.

step 8

  • STEP 8.9 add the cooked dal and allow the dal to boil. Simmer for 4 to 5 minutes.

step 9

  • STEP 9.10 top with some lemon juice and serve hot.
