Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Wash and soak the chana dal for 2 hours. Drain the water and keep aside.
  • STEP 2.Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, and asafoetida. Let them splutter.
  • STEP 3.Add chopped onions and saut茅 until golden brown. Then, add ginger-garlic paste and cook for a minute.
  • STEP 4.Add chopped methi leaves and cook until they wilt. Then, add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt.
  • STEP 5.Add the soaked chana dal and mix well. Cook for a few minutes.
  • STEP 6.Add water, cover the pan, and cook until the dal is soft and cooked through.
  • STEP 7.Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with roti or rice.
