Meeshay is a Burmese cuisine dish of rice noodles with a meat sauce. It became a specialty of the Shan people of Eastern Myanmar. Try this easy and quick recipe to make Meshay with handful of ingredients like rice noodles, sprouts, chicken breast, starch, onions, peanuts, garlic along with ssome sauces and flavourful spices.

Ingredients for Meeshay Recipe

  • 1 packet Rice Noodles
  • 1 cup Beans Sprouts
  • As required Chicken Breast
  • 1 cup Cherry Tomatoes
  • As required Salt
  • As required Red Chili Powder
  • As required Turmeric powder
  • As required Tapioca Starch
  • As required Fish sauce
  • As required Dried onions
  • As required Peanuts
  • As required Crushed garlic
  • As required Yellow soybean paste
  • As required Lemon
  • As required Oyster Sauce
  • As required Cilantro

Directions: Meeshay Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.Cut the cherry tomatoes into four pieces from the center and chop the chicken breast pieces into thin slices.

step 2

  • STEP 1.Marinate the chicken pieces with 1 tbsp fish sauce, 1 ½ tsp red chili powder, 1 tsp turmeric powder, and mix all of them thoroughly and let it sit for 30 minutes.

  • STEP 1.Stem the bean sprouts in water for a few minutes and boil the noodles in a pan. In a pan and 6-7 tbsp oil and add a couple of crushed garlic cubes and saute them.

  • STEP 1.Add the dried onions and keep sautéing them for about 2-3 minutes. Then add the cherry tomatoes and give it a good mix. Add 1 tbsp chili powder, 1 tsp turmeric powder, salt to taste, and keep stirring them.

  • STEP 1.Then add ½ cup water and give it a good stir. Add more water if needed and keep stirring. Now add the marinated chicken and mix it well with the curry.

  • STEP 1.Add ½ cup water, cover it with a lid, turn the flame to medium and let simmer it. Keep stirring it now and then cook it till the chicken is cooked.

  • STEP 1.Meanwhile, in another pan add 500 ml of water and 2 tbsp tapioca starch. Stir it and let it dissolved and then add the oyster sauce, yellow soybean paste, and keep stirring it.

step 8

  • STEP 1.On a plate add the cooked noodles followed by- steamed sprouts, 2 ladles of chicken curry. Top it with some chopped cilantro and peanuts. Lastly add the tapioca mixture starch, fish sauce to taste, 1 tsp chili sauce, and half lime juice.
