Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.To make the pathiri, mix rice flour with water and knead it into a soft dough.
  • STEP 2.Divide the dough into small balls and flatten them into thin pancakes.
  • STEP 3.Cook the pathiri on a hot griddle until both sides are cooked and slightly browned.
  • STEP 4.To make the fish filling, heat oil in a pan and sauté onions until golden brown.
  • STEP 5.Add ginger-garlic paste, green chilies, and spices like turmeric, chili powder, and coriander powder.
  • STEP 6.Add fish pieces and cook until they are tender and well-coated with the spices.
  • STEP 7.Take a pathiri pancake and place a spoonful of the fish filling in the center.
  • STEP 8.Fold the pathiri in half and seal the edges to form a semi-circle.
  • STEP 9.Repeat the process with the remaining pathiri and fish filling.
  • STEP 10.Steam the stuffed pathiri for a few minutes or shallow fry them until crispy and golden brown.
  • STEP 11.Serve hot with coconut chutney or tomato sauce.

Cooking Tips

  • Make sure to knead the rice flour dough well to get a smooth and pliable texture.
  • You can use any firm fish like kingfish or mackerel for the filling.
  • If you prefer a spicier filling, add more green chilies or red chili powder.
