Ingredients for Meen Achar Recipe

  • 0.08 kilogram Fish sliced
  • 1/25 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 0.17 teaspoon Red chilly powder
  • As required Salt
  • 1/50 cup Crushed ginger
  • 1/50 cup Crushed garlic
  • 1/25 cup Sesame oil
  • 0.13 cup Vinegar
  • 1/2 tablespoon Chilly powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon Home made pickle powder
  • 4.17 gram Tamarind
  • 0.08 tablespoon Mustrd seeds
  • 0.08 curry leaves stem

Steps To Prepare

  • STEP 1.Marinate the fish slices with salt, turmeric powder and red chilli powder. Keep them aside for 30 minutes.

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Heat some cooking oil in a pan and fry the marinated fish pieces till they are perfectly cooked and crispy.
  • STEP 2.In another pan, add some sesame oil and splutter 1tbsp mustard seeds. Add 2 stems of curry leaves, 1/4 cup of crushed ginger and 1/4 cup of crushed garlic. Stir to incorporate well.
  • STEP 3.Add 2 tsp chilly powder and 6 tsp pickle powder and mix well. Pour ½ cup of tamarind water and 2 tsp of salt. Mix the ingredients well.
  • STEP 4.Once the mixture starts boiling, add 1 cup of vinegar and let it boil.
  • STEP 5.Turn off the flame. Transfer the fried fish pieces to the gravy and mix well.

Storage And Serving Method

  • STEP 1.You can store the pickle in airtight containers or in the fridge for upto a month or two.
