It is an easy delicious thick gravy made with beef broth and a mix of spices and sweet potatoes and serve with noodles.Mee Rebus is a Malay noodle dish in a sweet potato-based gravy. The combination of sweetness and savoury flavours are deliciously enhanced with a generous squeeze of lime juice. This noodle dish is commonly enjoyed across Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore.

Ingredients for Mee Rebus Recipe

  • 1 milliliter 105 water
  • 500 gram Beef
  • 700 gram sweet potato
  • 4 Nos shallots
  • 4 Nos garlic cloves
  • 30 Nos dried chilli peppers
  • stalk A lemongrass
  • 3 cm galangal
  • 1 Nos candlenut
  • 1/2 cup Shrimps
  • 3 tablespoon Oil
  • 1.50 tablespoon curry powder
  • 1.50 tablespoon fermented soybean paste
  • 1 tablespoon Salt
  • 1/2 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 Nos Egg
  • 1 Nos Green chillies
  • As required Tofu
  • As required Bean Sprouts
  • As required Parsley

Directions: Mee Rebus Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.Soak dried chillies

  • STEP 2.Add water in a pot and boil it completely.add beef into the pot and reduce heat when it starts boiling.

  • STEP 3.Steam cubed sweet potatoes until soft

step 4

  • STEP 4.Grind shallots and garlic cloves finely

step 5

  • STEP 5.Grind soaked dried chillies,lemongrass,dried prawns,galangal and candlenut until they turn into a paste.

  • STEP 6.1.heat oil in a pan & heat it.

  • STEP 7.2.add ground shallots and garlic paste and saute it until slightly translucent

  • STEP 8.3.add blended chili paste, taucu and curry powder

step 10

  • STEP 9.4.saute it until oil separates.

step 11

  • STEP 10.5.remove bones from broth and cut beef into pieces.

step 12

  • STEP 11.6.now add cooked chilli paste into the beef broth,once the chilli paste is mixes well with the broth,add mashed sweet potatoes

  • STEP 12.7.once the gravy starts boiling,turn the gas at low flame.

step 14

  • STEP 13.8.stir cook the gravy until it reaches the desired thickness.

  • STEP 14.9.add salt and sugar as per taste.

step 16

  • STEP 15.10.cook egg noodles in boiling water.

step 17

  • STEP 16.11.now serve noodles with mee rebus gravy and garnish with fried shallots,blanched bean sprouts,green chillies,fried firm tofu,boiled egg slices and some parsley
