Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Rinse the red lentils thoroughly and soak them for 30 minutes.
  • STEP 2.In a pressure cooker, heat oil and add cumin seeds, cloves, and cinnamon stick.
  • STEP 3.Add chopped onions, ginger-garlic paste, and saut茅 until golden brown.
  • STEP 4.Add chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and cook until the tomatoes are soft.
  • STEP 5.Drain the soaked lentils and add them to the pressure cooker along with water, salt, and garam masala.
  • STEP 6.Pressure cook for 3-4 whistles or until the lentils are cooked and tender.
  • STEP 7.Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or Indian bread.
