A very delicious chicken prepared by fried chicken mixed with honey, maltose gravy. Crispy fried chicken coated with marmite sauce is a popular choice at Chinese eateries in Malaysia and Singapore. The sweet and savoury gravy is delicious and appetizing. Marmite chicken is a popular dish found at Chinese eateries known as ‘dai chao' which are commonly found throughout Malaysia or at ‘zi char’ in Singapore. This marmite chicken recipe uses honey and maltose as sweeteners. Maltose, also known as malt sugar is not that sweet compared to other sweeteners and is commonly used in Chinese cooking.

Ingredients for Marmite Fried Chicken Recipe

  • 300 gram chicken meat
  • 1 tablespoon Soy Sauce
  • 5 tablespoon corn flour
  • 400 milliliter Oil
  • 2 tablespoon Water
  • 1 tablespoon Marmite
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon Maltose
  • 1 tablespoon shaoxing wine

Directions: Marmite Fried Chicken Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.Mix chicken in soy sauce and then coat it with corn flour.

step 2

  • STEP 1.Heat oil at medium flame & fry the coated chicken and fry until golden brown.

step 3

  • STEP 1.In a pan add soy sauce, shaoxing wine and water, followed by honey, marmite and maltose.

step 4

  • STEP 1.Cook it at medium flame and stir it, reduce the flame and cook until gravy thickens.

step 5

  • STEP 1.Now turn off the flame and coat the chicken with the gravy well and serve.
