3 No.s Red chilies
1 teaspoon Black peppercorns
2 tablespoon Coriander seeds
1 teaspoon Cumin seeds

1 teaspoon Oil
1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
4 Garlic chopped cloves
1 Onion Finely Chopped
1 sprig Curry leaves
1 cup Cooked kabuli chana
1/4 cup Freshly grated coconut
As required Fresh ground spice powder
1/4 cup Tamarind water
Directions: Manglorean Style Sonay Sukka Recipe
step 1
STEP 1.Wash and soak 1 cup kabuli chana for 8 hours or overnight. Pressure cook till chana is soft.
step 2
STEP 1.In a preheated pan dry roast 3 red chilies, 1 tsp black peppercorns,2 tbsp coriander seeds, 1 tsp cumin seeds on medium heat for 1 to 2 minutes till the aromas come through. Do not brown the spices.

STEP 1.Transfer the roasted spice to a small grinding jar and grind to a coarse powder.

STEP 1.Preheat a pan and add 1 tsp oil, 1 tsp mustard seeds and allow the seeds to crackle.

STEP 1.Then add 4 cloves chopped garlic, 1 onion finely chopped and 1 sprig of curry leaves. Saute till the onions become tender and soft.

STEP 1.At this stage add 1 cup cooked Kabuli chana (chickpea), ¼ cup freshly grated coconut, fresh ground spice powder, salt to taste. Mix well to combine all the ingredients.
