  • 1/4 cup Rice
  • 0.13 cup Grated Coconut
  • 0.13 cup Jaggery
  • 0.06 teaspoon Cardamom Powder
  • pinch A Pinch Of Salt
  • as required Ghee Or Oil For Greasing

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Soak rice in water for 4-5 hours and drain the water.
  • STEP 2.Grind the soaked rice along with grated coconut and jaggery to make a smooth batter.
  • STEP 3.Add cardamom powder and a pinch of salt to the batter and mix well.
  • STEP 4.Grease the idli moulds with ghee or oil and pour the batter into each mould.
  • STEP 5.Steam the idlis for about 10-12 minutes or until they are cooked through.
  • STEP 6.Once cooked, remove the idlis from the moulds and serve hot.
  • STEP 7.These sweet idlis can be enjoyed as is or with a drizzle of ghee on top.
  • STEP 8.Store any leftover idlis in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.

Cooking Tips

  • Make sure to soak the rice for at least 4-5 hours to ensure a soft texture.
  • You can adjust the sweetness of the idlis by adding more or less jaggery according to your taste.
  • If you don't have an idli mould, you can use small bowls or ramekins to steam the idlis.
  • For added flavor, you can sprinkle some grated coconut or chopped nuts on top of the idlis before steaming.
