Ingredients for Mangalore Buns/Banana Buns Recipe

  • 2 cup Whole Wheat Flour
  • 0.13 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 3 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 2 tablespoon Yogurt
  • 2.17 tablespoon Ghee
  • 1 Nos Overripe banana

Directions: Mangalore Buns/banana Buns Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1. in a food processor jar add 2 cups whole wheat flour, ⅛ tsp baking soda, 3 tsp sugar,½ tsp salt, ½ tsp cumin seeds, 2 tsp yogurt, 2 tsp ghee, 1 large overripe banana mashed or nendra pazham banana.

  • STEP 1. adding a little water at a time, blend to make a smooth dough.

  • STEP 1. transfer dough to a bowl, sprinkle flour and continue kneading by hand to make the dough smooth and firm. Add ½ tsp ghee and continue kneading for a few minutes.

  • STEP 1. divide the dough into lemon size balls. Cover and rest the dough for 2 hours.

  • STEP 1. in a kadai deep pan heat oil for deep frying.

  • STEP 1. dust the ball of dough with flour and roll into a 3 inch diameter circle.

step 7

  • STEP 1.slide the rolled out bun into the hot oil and fry till it puffs up. Keep spooning oil over the bun while frying. Flip it over to ensure it fry evenly and turns golden on both sides.

step 8

  • STEP 1. remove from the kadai and drain the buns on the kitchen paper towel.

step 9

  • STEP 1.serve with mixed veg sagu and chutney
