a form of fried bread that originated on the Swahili Coast and is also known as borfort or puffin western American countries and is one of the principal dishes in the cuisine of the Swahili people who inhabit the Coastal Region. Made with all purpose flour, sugar, coconut milk, egg, yeast, some flavourful spices and deep fried in hot oil.

Ingredients for Mandazi Recipe

  • 4 cup All purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 2.25 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1 Nos egg
  • 3 tablespoon Oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cardamom
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 cup lukewarm water

Directions: Mandazi Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.Take a bowl,add lukewarm water and yeast to it and add some sugar,cracked eggs, milk, flour, cinnamon, cardamom and salt.

  • STEP 1.Knead all the ingredients and make a dough of it and place the dough on a work surface and flatten it until 1/4 inch thick.

step 5

  • STEP 1.Now cut the flatten dough into squares and then cut the squares into triangles and let the cut pieces rest for 20 mins.

step 7

  • STEP 1.Add enough oil in a pan & heat it. Now add the doughnuts into the pan and fry until brown
