Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Marinate the chicken with yogurt, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt for 30 minutes.
  • STEP 2.Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and curry leaves. Saute until fragrant.
  • STEP 3.Add chopped onions and cook until golden brown. Then, add ginger-garlic paste and saute for a minute.
  • STEP 4.Add the marinated chicken and cook until it turns brown on all sides.
  • STEP 5.In a blender, grind coconut, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, and red chili powder to make a fine paste.
  • STEP 6.Add the coconut paste to the chicken and mix well. Cook for 5 minutes.
  • STEP 7.Add water, tamarind pulp, and salt. Cover and simmer for 20-25 minutes until the chicken is cooked through.
  • STEP 8.Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti.

  • For a spicier curry, increase the amount of red chili powder.
  • You can adjust the consistency of the curry by adding more or less water.
