  • 1/4 Onion, Thinly Sliced
  • 1/4 tablespoon Ginger, Grated

  • 1/2 cup Mixed Vegetables
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Red Chili Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Garam Masala
  • As required Salt To Taste
  • 1 cup Water

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Wash and soak basmati rice for 30 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  • STEP 2.Heat oil in a large pan and sauté onions, ginger, and garlic until golden brown.
  • STEP 3.Add the vegetables and cook until they are slightly tender. Add the spices and cook for another minute.
  • STEP 4.In a separate pot, bring water to a boil and add the soaked rice. Cook until the rice is 70% cooked. Drain and set aside.
  • STEP 5.In a large pot, layer the partially cooked rice and the vegetable mixture. Repeat the layers until all the rice and vegetables are used.
  • STEP 6.Cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid and cook on low heat for 20-25 minutes, or until the rice is fully cooked.
  • STEP 7.Gently fluff the rice with a fork and serve hot with raita or a side salad.
