Halwa ,is a traditional Indian sweet dish.Usually Halwa is made from Sooji, Gehun Atta or Besan.But this halwa recipe is a little different from the rest.It uses Maize Flour ie Makai ka Atta.The best part of this recipe is a light yellow color and flavour of corn meal.The crunchy dry fruits and khus khus makes this halwa recipe even more special. Maize Flour has many health benefits.It is rich source of vitamin A, C, E and B (B1, B2 & B6).Contains good amount of dietary fiber, Magnesium and potassium found in it are good in controlling blood pressure.It gives warmth to the body thus being beneficial for health in many ways. Above all,If you are bored of eating the same kind of sweets then this Halwa is a good and healthy option.

Ingredients for Makai ka Halwa Recipe

  • 1/4 Cup makai ka atta
  • 0.19 Cup hee
  • 0.13 Cup Sugar
  • 1 Teaspoons Khus khus
  • 2.50 Pieces Almonds
  • A Pinch Saffron strands
  • As Required For Ganishing pistachio

Directions: Makai Ka Halwa Recipe

  • STEP 1.*Take Ghee in heavy bottomed kadhai/ Pan.
  • STEP 2.*Add Makai atta /yellow Maize flour and at low flame let it roast for 2 to 3 minutes.
  • STEP 3.*Add khus khus/poppy seeds and stir it continuously.
  • STEP 4.*Blanch almonds,peel and grind to coarse paste.Keep aside.
  • STEP 5.*In another pan add around 2 cups water and dissolve the sugar.
  • STEP 6.*To this sugar syrup , add presoaked saffron strands and the almond paste.
  • STEP 7.*Pour this above syrup on the golden pink roasted makai atta.
  • STEP 8.*Stir continuously to avoid lumps.
  • STEP 9.*Serve hot with pistachio slivers, Garnish with your choice of dry fruits or nuts.
