Palak Patal Bhaji is a mildly spicy Maharashtrian curry made with spinach. It is also called takatli palak bhaji in Marathi. Palak patal bhaji is a very delicious, simple, and easy-to-make recipe. It makes a perfect choice to enjoy with some plain rice, roti, or paratha.

Ingredients for Maharashtrian Patal Bhaji / Curry Recipe

  • 1/4 g big bunch spinach
  • 0.06 cup Chickpea dal
  • 0.06 cup Ground nut
  • As Required water
  • 1/4 tbsp Oil
  • 1/4 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 3/4 Pieces Finely Chopped green chilly
  • 1/4 tsp Ginger paste
  • 2.50 Pieces Finely chopped garlic cloves
  • 0.13 tsp Asafoetida
  • 1/4 cup Sour buttermilk
  • 3/4 tbsp gram flour (besan)
  • 1/4 tsp red chilly powder
  • 1/4 tsp Coriander cumin powder
  • 0.13 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 0.13 tsp Garam masala
  • To Taste Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Sugar

Directions: Maharashtrian Patal Bhaji / Curry Recipe

  • STEP 1.First, wash chickpea dal and groundnuts with clean water and soak them in warm water for 3 hours. Wash the spinach with clean water and chop it finely.
  • STEP 2.After that, add soaked peanuts, chickpea dal, and chopped spinach. and water to the cooker and boil for 3 whistles.
  • STEP 3.Now heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds in it, add chopped green chilies, chopped garlic, ginger paste, and asafoetida, and stir.
  • STEP 4.Now add the boiled spinach bhaji mixture to it. After that, add gram flour to buttermilk and mix well and add this mixture to the spinach mixture.
  • STEP 5.Now add red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander-cumin powder, garam masala, salt, and sugar to this and mix well and cover and cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
  • STEP 6.Now our Delicious Maharashtrian Patal Bhaji is ready to serve. This bhaji curry can be served with rice, roti or paratha. I have served this bhaji with paratha here.
