Ingredients for Liu Sha Bao Recipe

  • 250 gram low gluten flour
  • 2.50 gram dried yeast
  • 80 gram carrot, cooked and mashed
  • 20 gram Warm Water
  • 50 gram Water
  • 40 gram castor sugar
  • 1.50 gram baking powder
  • As required Filling
  • 5 No.s salted egg yolks
  • 100 gram butter, softened
  • 35 gram white sugar
  • 36 gram powdered milk

  • STEP 1.1. First, steam the carrots and then mash them up.

  • STEP 2.Place the yeast in the warm water for a while.

  • STEP 3.Place all of the dough ingredients into a bread machine and set it to make the dough. When it is ready, stir the dough until smooth and let it stand at room temperature.

  • STEP 4.You can make the bun filling while the dough is in the bread machine.

  • STEP 5.Steam the salted egg yolks and then mash them.

  • STEP 6.Add the softened butter and mix well.sift in the milk powder and continue mixing.

  • STEP 7.Next, add the white sugar, mix thoroughly and then divide the mixture into portions of 15 grams each to be frozen for more than half an hour.

  • STEP 8.The dough should be ready to use now. Take it out of the bread machine and place on a smooth surface.

  • STEP 9.Divide the dough into portions of about 20 grams each and let them sit for 10 minutes.

  • STEP 10.Remove the frozen filling from the freezer. Flatten out each portion of dough and put a spoonful of filling in the middle of each portion.

  • STEP 11.Close the dough around the filling and pinch it as tight. Set the buns aside for about 30 minutes to double in size.

  • STEP 12.When the buns have doubled in size and the dough springs back when you touch it lightly with your fingers they are ready to be steamed.

  • STEP 13.Place the buns, with the pinched side facing downwards, in a steamer lined with steamer paper.

  • STEP 14.Pour enough water into the steamer and bring to the boil. Cover the steamer with a steamer cloth to prevent the steam dripping from the lid onto the buns. Steam the buns for 6 minutes.
